Student Representative to the Education Committee
The Education committee includes a student representative, elected annually, who serves for one year. This student functions as an information source for students and enhances communication between the student body and the committee. In addition to participating in the above activities, the student representative facilitates posts on social media, contributes to the SRNA newsletter, and writes the Student News column for Nurseanesthesiology.aana.com.
The student representative is elected by the students attending the AANA Annual Congress. The student representative participates in Education Committee meetings and conference calls. Refer to the application for complete details.
Application materials must be submitted to education@aana.com by Friday, May 6, 2022.
Student Writing Contest
Students are invited to submit an essay of no more than 1500 words, including references, on a topic pertinent to education, professional practice, and development, wellness, healthcare, or health policy. The Education Committee will rate essays based on thesis, organization, idea development, content, evidence, and grammar.
All citations must follow AMA format. The Education Committee selects the winner, who is recognized during the Student Luncheon at the AANA Annual Congress. There also is a possibility for the winning essay to be published on nurseanesthesiology.aana.com as a Student News column.
Essays must be submitted online by Friday, April 15.
Anesthesia College Bowl at Annual Congress
The spirited College Bowl is held annually at the AANA Annual Congress. Six teams of students play each other, answering questions about anesthesia that have been submitted by nurse anesthesia program directors. The winning student team faces off against a team of six CRNAs to determine the ultimate winner of the College Bowl.
Program Administrators can nominate up to two students to compete on the student teams.
All applications are due by May 6 for the College Bowl at the 2022 Annual Congress in Chicago, IL.
